The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers patient-centered care by applying the nursing process and demonstrating clinical expertise relevant to surgical orthopedics. Adherence to the ANA Code of Ethics is essential.
- Adhere to established safety protocols including infection prevention, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications to ensure a secure care environment.
- Maintain and care for central lines while preventing surgical site infections according to policy.
- Administer medications, perform nursing interventions, and provide education to patients and families to promote health outcomes.
- Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments to monitor status, enhance safety, and inform the healthcare team.
- Document all care activities and quality measures accurately to support clinical decisions.
- Communicate effectively with physicians and team members to improve patient outcomes.
- Delegate tasks appropriately while fostering teamwork and accountability.
- Engage patients and families with timely communication and education to enhance their experience.
- Apply critical thinking and pursue continuing education to develop nursing skills.
Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.
At least one year of nursing experience is preferred.
- Current RN license in the state of Missouri or Compact Licensure.
- Graduate nurses must obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
This role requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs., standing, walking, and various movements such as pushing, pulling, and reaching.
Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids is expected. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
