Job Summary

Full‑time Registered Nurse (RN) in the Stepdown / Critical Care Unit at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital – Mount Vernon, IL. Day shift 7:00 AM‑7:00 PM, rotating days, every other weekend, holiday rotation required. No on‑call requirement. Pay range: $31.21–$49.94 hourly.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Obtains comprehensive data from patient, family, and other healthcare providers.
  • Analyzes and synthesizes data to determine diagnosis or conditions relevant to care.
  • Identifies optimal outcomes in collaboration with patient, family, and interprofessional team.
  • Develops and implements care plans, coordinating with patient, family, and team.
  • Evaluates progress toward attainment of goals and outcomes.
  • Contributes to quality and effectiveness of nursing practice, maintaining current knowledge and competence.
  • Communicates effectively and collaborates with patient, family, and interprofessional team.
  • Uses clinical inquiry and evidence‑based practice to inform critical care nursing decisions.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and maintains a safe environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

Graduate of an accredited nursing school or equivalent education for licensing. No prior experience required.

Physical Requirements

  • Constant use of speech, standing, walking.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying of up to 25 lbs; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs; occasional patient moving.
  • Frequent reaching, bending, twisting, repetitive hand/arm movements.
  • Occasional driving.

Licensure and Certifications

  • State of Illinois requirements: BLS HCP, RN, ALS, ENPC, NRP, PALS, TNCC, NRP Essentials.
  • State of Missouri requirements: BLS HCP, RN (state or Compact), ALS, ENPC, NRP, PALS, TNCC, NRP Essentials.
  • State of Oklahoma requirements: BLS HCP, RN (Compact or Oklahoma Board), ALS, ENPC, NRP, PALS, TNCC, NRP Essentials.
  • State of Wisconsin requirements: BLS HCP, RN (Compact or Wisconsin Dept), ALS, ENPC, NRP, PALS, TNCC, NRP Essentials.
