Sepsis Coordinator
40 hrs/wk; 5 days/wk. We are seeking a dedicated Sepsis Coordinator to lead, expand, and continuously improve our organizationwide sepsis program. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on early identification of sepsis, rapid initiation of evidence-based treatment, and ensuring compliance with CMS SEP-1 measures and current clinical guidelines. The coordinator will be a clinical champion who drives measurable improvements in patient safety and outcomes.
Primary Responsibilities

• Lead sepsis surveillance, early recognition strategies, and protocol implementation across inpatient units.
• Collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, bedside nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to standardize care pathways and timing of interventions.
• Monitor performance metrics, analyze SEP-1 data, identify gaps, and report findings to leadership.
• Design and deliver targeted education and competency assessments for clinical staff to improve sepsis recognition and adherence to best practices.
• Develop and lead quality improvement initiatives and plan-do-study-act cycles that reduce time to antibiotics, improve bundle compliance, and lower sepsis mortality.

Qualifications

• Active Nebraska RN license required.
• Minimum three years of acute care nursing experience required; ICU, ED, or stepdown experience preferred.
• BSN preferred. Experience with quality improvement methods, data analysis, and sepsis-related certifications are preferred.
