RN Resource Nurse – ICU
Location : In Person, Danville, VA. Schedule : Monday – Friday, 9:00AM – 5:30PM. Compensation : $36.55 – $47.21 per hour, plus $20,000 sign‑on bonus eligibility.
About the Unit
A 36‑bed Telemetry & Progressive Care Unit, staffed with:
- 24 telemetry beds – 1:6 nurse‑to‑patient ratio
- 12 progressive care beds – 1:4 ratio
Patient population includes chest pain, arrhythmias, post‑cardiac cath, pacemaker/ICD implants, respiratory distress, renal failure, pulmonary embolism, vascular interventions, high‑risk anticoagulation, post‑STEMI, high‑level oxygen support, DKA, post‑op and medical patients requiring enhanced monitoring.
Responsibilities
- Primary admission nurse for the unit(s) during scheduled shifts, emphasizing medication reconciliation.
- Assign and update 'bed ahead' designation in the Teletracking system to expedite admissions.
- Communicate plan of care and complete the white board upon patient admission.
- Work shift hours designated for highest admit times based on trended data.
- Make rounds to assess each patient daily and provide feedback to unit manager on findings requiring leadership follow‑up.
- Collaborate with house supervisor on pending discharges and barriers to completion.
- Lead clinical quality initiatives on the unit and partner with the quality leader.
- Educate and support nurses, encouraging participation in community activity programs and shared governance.
- Identify clinical education needs of staff and develop individualized learning opportunities.
- Complete incident reports and follow‑up investigation forms as needed.
- Maintain clinical education validation documentation in employee files.
- Perform other duties related to nursing clinical excellence on the unit.
Qualifications
- Current RN license in Virginia or a compact state (Virginia license minimum).
- Associate’s degree in Nursing; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within six months of hire.
- Experience in a clinical area preferred.
