Position Overview:
Under the direct supervision of the Ambulatory Surgery Center/PACU Nurse Manager, the Pre-Admission Nurse performs:
- Assessment with the patient prior to admission via a phone interview or in person
- Collects the patients medical history from previous medical records
- Works closely with the anesthesia department in coordinating the patient's needs
- Performs direct patient care activities for all age groups.
- Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the care for patients in accordance with the plan of care, established hospital and departmental policies, procedures, and standards of care.
- Provides care for the patients as well as assisting physicians in providing treatment to patients in various medical settings.
- Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Licensure: Current RN license in the state of practice
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of RN experience
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association
- Other Skills: Strong clinical skills, effective communication, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Preferred:
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Certifications: ACLS, PALS, and NRP (required for areas where applicable; must be maintained current)
- Experience: At least 1 year of RN experience
