Registered Nurse IThe Registered Nurse I assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care. Utilizes the nursing process in accordance with hospital standards and unit policies/procedures. Monitors and evaluates patient functional status. Assesses, organizes, and completes patient care with consideration for patient age, cultural, and psychosocial factors. Documents steps of the nursing process. Utilizes proper medical terminology.
Addresses problems and progress toward goals. Facilitates patient discharge through timely and appropriate referrals. Utilizes patient education resources suitable to patient age and cultural/psychosocial factors. Collaborates with other disciplines as appropriate. Supports unit/hospital goals through performance improvement and educational activities. Attends in-services and meets unit education standards.
Completes variance reports. Exercises independent judgment in making decisions from diversified alternatives. Coordinates activities of others without direct supervision. Leads others in similar work performed. Provides input on performance evaluations but does not prepare or give them. Works directly with patients and/or customers.
Engages with internal customers via telephone or face-to-face interaction. Interacts with external customers via telephone or face-to-face interaction. Collaborates frequently with other healthcare professionals and staff. Engages regularly with individuals at a Director level or above.
