Description:The unit has 18 beds, including 6 capable of Progressive Care Unit functions.All rooms are private.The unit may house patients with COVID-19 if needed.There are temporary walls and an air handling system.Support staff includes telemetry techs, a charge nurse, unit clerks, and patient care technicians.CNAs share the floor, each managing up to 9 patients.The RN to patient ratio is 1:4 for Med Surg and 1:3 for stepdown patients.Common diagnoses include acute myocardial infarction, stroke/transient ischemic attacks, pneumonia, renal issues (dialysis), atrial fibrillation with rapid ventricular response, systemic inflammatory response syndrome, and diabetes mellitus.Registered nurses may float to other medical-surgical units as needed.Respiratory therapists and pharmacy services are available 24/7.Weekend work is required every other weekend across day and night shifts.
