Job Description

Night Shift 12 hours/day 3 days/week

Title: RN- PCU

Location: Shelby North Carolina 28150

Duration: 13 Weeks

Shift: 12hr Night Shift - 36

Shift Information: 1900 - 0700

Clinical Interviewing: Yes

On Call, Call Back Requirements: Possibility of low census call. Can be called back up to 3a for Nights and up to 3p for Days

Holiday Requirements: Travelers will work 75% of holidays

Floating Requirements: Region 3 - Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH)

Unit Information:

Beds: 32

Minimum Years of Experience required:

18 months PCU RN experience

Will you accept a first-time traveler:

Yes

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:

Could see any patient not requiring mechanical ventilation – CHF, Dysrhythmia, Chest Pain work up, Stroke, Abdominal illnesses and infections, Respiratory illness, Diabetes, AKI/CKD, ETOH withdrawal, IVDA, etc.

Patient Ratios:

  • RN: 1:4 is most common; could possibly go to 1:5 depending on acuity
  • LPN (if applicable): 4:1
  • CNA: Days 1:12; Nights 1:16

Required Licensure & Certifications:

BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

Skills required:

Experience with traches, cardiac gtt experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tubes, blood products, wound care/dressing changes, management of central lines

Support within the Department:

  • CNA - ADL s
  • Receptionist/HUC: Dayshift only
  • Charge nurse – Resource to assist with all nursing care
  • Phlebotomy: Yes, other than nurse draws
  • IV/VAT Team
  • RT, 24/7
  • Hospitalist, 24/7
  • Intensivist, 24/7
  • Telemetry monitoring – bedside and nurses station

Technology/Equipment:

  • EMR: EPIC
  • IV Pump: Alaris
  • Med dispensing: Omnicell
  • Monitors: Phillips

Floating:

  • Within region and scope of practice
  • Will be required to float per region needs – will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice – DECLINE if not agreeable
  • Region 3 - Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division (CMC Main Mercy LCH)
  • If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock)

Orientation (facility and unit):

  • NEO
  • 2 days departmental

Scheduling:

  • Weekend rotation: every other
  • Call: Possibility of low census call. Can be called back up to 3a for Nights and up to 3p for Days
  • Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays
  • RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays – must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours
  • Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks
