Job Summary

We are seeking a PACU Nurse to provide safe and effective nursing care in a surgery center. The role includes postoperative patient monitoring until discharge, airway management, IV care, head‑to‑toe evaluations, dressing checks, and collaboration with the surgical team.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patient care area and ensure necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Demonstrate proper airway management techniques.
  • Monitor patients according to policy (vital signs, temperature, cardiac, etc.).
  • Insert, maintain, and remove IV catheters and saline locks with proper technique.
  • Perform and document head‑to‑toe evaluations using approved scoring systems.
  • Check dressings and operative sites, report abnormalities to the surgeon.
  • Provide a safe and comforting environment for patients and families.
  • Ensure patients meet discharge criteria.

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Nursing, RN Diploma, or higher nursing degree.
  • 1+ years of nursing experience in a clinical setting, preferably PACU, ICU, or surgery.
  • Active RN license required by the state of employment.
  • BCLS certification upon employment (online certification not acceptable).
  • ACLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
  • PALS certification required within 30 days of hire if required by facility.
