Direct and supervise patient care in the operating room ensuring proper practices and techniques are used. Monitors standards of care to ensure excellent care is provided.
- Confirm room, supplies and equipment are prepared for procedure.
- Ensure sterile and safe environment by maintaining aseptic techniques.
- Attend and assist surgeon as necessary in the operative procedure.
- Perform appropriate treatment directed by the surgeon in an accurate and timely manner.
- Instrumental in developing the nursing interventions and individualized care plan in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of patient’s condition by observing current conditions and reactions, noting abnormalities and reporting them immediately to the physician.
- Ensure documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Develop patient/family post-operative instruction based on the patient’s individualized needs of the patient and as directed by the surgeon.
- Ensure discharge planning is commenced at the point of admission in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
- Protect confidentiality surrounding patient admission and treatment at all times.
- Assist in administrative duties including documenting, maintaining records and collecting data for statistics.
- Assist in developing procedures, policies and guidelines.
- Other job related duties as assigned.

Bachelors or better.
