Responsibilities
- Assist with newborn care at deliveries, providing immediate care and support to newborns during and after delivery.
- Maintain skills in neonatal resuscitation to respond effectively in emergencies.
- Demonstrate assessment skills in high and low-risk obstetrical patients to identify potential risks and health issues.
- Identify and report maternal and newborn problems to the physician promptly.
- Assist with the transfer of newborns to other facilities when indicated, ensuring safe and efficient transfers.
- Accurately identify and band newborns, mothers, and significant others to prevent mix-ups. Document all care activities accurately, including band identification numbers in medical records.
Education
- Associate's of Nursing (Required)
- Bachelor's of Nursing (Preferred)
Work Experience
- 1+ labor and delivery or postpartum nursing experience (Preferred)
Licenses and Certifications
- Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) (Required)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) (Required)
- Registered Nurse (RN) (Required)
- Neonatal Med Certification (NEONATAL MED) (Preferred)
