Overview

The RN/Internal Agency position is a 13‑week temporary full‑time assignment supporting emergency department and other acute care units at Methodist University Hospital. The role requires a Registered Nurse to deliver specialized patient care, participate in continuous improvement, and lead within the clinical setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide practice excellence through specialized nursing assessment, care, evaluation and education to patients and families in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Promote evidence‑based practice by using research to develop, implement and evaluate process standards such as plans of care, protocols and guidelines.
  • Provide leadership excellence in the clinical practice area, modeling professional behavior and fostering an environment of growth and learning.
  • Demonstrate commitment to learning excellence through ongoing professional development and clinical expertise.
  • Show role clarity through professional competence, expertise and knowledge, supporting the nursing profession via role‑modeling.

Education and Experience

Associate’s Degree in Nursing. 1–3 years of experience in an acute‑care environment; at least two years in an acute‑care hospital setting.

Skills and Abilities

  • Flexible and versatile in meeting changing staffing demands.
  • Analytical skills to assess complex patient conditions and develop comprehensive plans of care.
  • Ability to synthesize multiple sources of information to resolve complex problems.
  • Proficiency in applying technical principles, concepts and techniques central to nursing practice.

Licensing and Certifications

  • Registered Nurse (TN), Tennessee Board of Nursing
  • Basic Life Support – American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support – American Heart Association
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support – American Heart Association
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification – American Heart Association

Supervision

The Registered Nurse directs and delegates all patient care activities on nursing units.

Physical Demands

  • Climbing, pushing, standing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, repetitive motion.
  • Ability to exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and up to 25 lbs. of force frequently.
  • Requires close visual acuity, including color, depth perception, and field of vision.
  • Exposure to patient body fluids, hazardous or poisonous materials; ability to react quickly to emergency situations.

Schedule

Positions require a flexible schedule according to agreed commitment level.
