Role Overview

This job is typically a 12‑week assignment. The Nurse functions as a leader in the provision of patient care using the nursing process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses, and Scope & Standards of Practice. The nurse delegates, directs, and assists licensed and ancillary team members; assumes accountability for quality patient outcomes; demonstrates sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, and religious diversity; maintains involvement in activities toward unit and department strategic goals; and demonstrates professional responsibility and accountability for his/her own practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Uses the nursing process for patient care delivery.
• Assesses learning needs and implements teaching strategies for patients, families, and interdisciplinary team.
• Communicates, delegates, and manages nursing team resources (human and fiscal) and serves as a leader on the interdisciplinary team.
• Uses data, information and knowledge to evaluate and promote change to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Embraces customer satisfaction, employee morale, and fosters professional development in nursing.
• Adapts behavior to specific patient populations, including privacy, introduction, and communication style.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
• Work experience: 1 year as a registered nurse.
• Licenses/Certifications: Current RN license in state of practice; Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association. Certification in clinical specialty area preferred.
• Skills: Effective verbal and written communication; proficiency with computers, software, and web‑based applications; good judgment; strong interpersonal skills.

Physical & Environmental Demands

Heavy work: lifting 50 to 100 pounds occasionally, 25 to 50 pounds frequently, or 10 to 20 pounds constantly. May involve walking, standing, pushing, pulling, and operating at a production pace. Routine exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissue; occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous medications, and hazardous waste.
