RN I – Practice – Cardiology

Responsibilities

• Consistently deliver the best in care and customer service.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care to achieve optimum outcomes.
• Collaborate with the health care team, patient, and family to develop, implement, and evaluate an age‑specific interdisciplinary plan of care.
• Accurately administer and document treatments and medications using automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.
• Identify educational needs of patient/family (caregiver) in a timely manner, incorporate into the plan of care, and document appropriately.
• Contribute to Carilion Clinic’s performance improvement activities.
• Demonstrate the role of patient advocate, protect patient’s rights, and provide psychological, social, and cultural support.
• Manage resources, establish priorities, and modify environment to meet patient care needs.
• Complete manager/director predetermined projects within the designated time frame and guidelines.

Qualifications

• Graduate of the school of professional nursing of an accredited college or graduate of an approved program eligible to sit for the VA licensure exam.
• Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Virginia or eligible to obtain Virginia RN licensure.
• AHA BLS-HCP required; may need to obtain/maintain BLS, ACLS, PALS, or NRP based on specific work unit.
• Computer skills required for electronic medical record (EPIC).
