Responsibilities
- Provides individualized patient care and coordinates care delivery for patients of all ages.
- Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Completes and documents age‑specific assessments to support development of care plans.
- Collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and adjust care plans.
- Administers treatments and medications accurately and documents care in electronic medical records.
- Identifies and addresses patient and family education needs.
- Participates in performance improvement and quality initiatives.
- Advocates for patients and supports their rights and psychosocial needs.
- Applies knowledge of growth and development to provide age‑appropriate care.
- Demonstrates clinical competence in a dynamic ambulatory care environment.
- Supports efficient patient flow and resource utilization.
- Manages resources, prioritizes tasks, and adapts to changing patient care needs.
- Supports orientation and training of new employees.
- Uses problem‑solving skills to address patient care and operational challenges.
- Provides feedback and participates in shared decision‑making activities.
- Supports education activities within the department.
- Maintains confidentiality and complies with regulatory and organizational standards.
Qualifications
- Education: Graduate of a school of professional nursing required.
- Experience: None.
- Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: Current Registered Nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia required or eligibility to obtain licensure required.
- Life Support: AHA BLS‑HCP required. Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, or NRP may be required based on assigned work area.
- Other Minimum Qualifications: Keyboarding skills and computer literacy required, including use of electronic medical records.
- Career Advancement Program: RNs are eligible to participate in the Career Advancement Program (CAP) to attain various levels of advancement based on performance criteria.
