Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for utilizing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation, and evaluation) to provide individualized nursing care to patients. The RN coordinates care, performs patient assessment, patient education, triage, and various other nursing interventions. The RN collaborates with other inter‑professional colleagues, including physicians, to plan, implement, and evaluate care. The RN demonstrates competency and practices within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge and utilizes appropriate age and population‑specific standards as designated in the assigned clinical setting. The RN functions within the scope and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules in the state of practice and licensure. The Sanford Professional Nursing Practice recognizes the Scope and Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics for Nurses as the foundation of nursing care delivery and professional conduct.

Qualifications

  • Graduated from a school or college of nursing. Bachelor’s degree in nursing is preferred.
  • Specific services/positions may have additional education, training or experience requirements.
  • Must have attended a pre‑licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the life span as part of the curriculum or have had a minimum of 400 hours of experience as an RN (or LPN) at another facility.
  • Requires current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state or states of practice.
  • Nurses performing nursing practice over the telephone require licensure in the states where the patients being served reside.
  • Certification may be required depending on specialty or service area.
