Role Description

The RN Float Pool role is a full-time, on-site position based in Corpus Christi, TX. The RN Float Pool team member provides direct, evidence-based nursing care by floating to multiple units based on patient acuity and staffing needs, including medical-surgical, telemetry, critical care, and specialty units as appropriate to competencies. Day-to-day responsibilities include assessing patient conditions, developing and implementing individualized care plans, administering medications and treatments, monitoring vital signs, and coordinating with physicians and interdisciplinary teams. The nurse documents all care accurately in the medical record, supports patient and family education, and follows hospital policies, safety protocols, infection prevention standards, and regulatory requirements. The role also involves responding to emergencies, participating in quality improvement initiatives, and adapting quickly to new environments and workflows while maintaining a high level of professionalism and compassion.

Qualifications

  • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas; current BLS certification (ACLS and other specialty certifications preferred based on unit needs).
  • Recent clinical experience in acute care hospital settings; prior float pool or multi-unit experience is highly beneficial.
  • Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize care in fast-paced environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to different units, workflows, and patient populations while maintaining high-quality, safe care.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with physicians, peers, patients, and families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems and accurate documentation practices.
  • Ability to lift, move, and position patients safely, and to stand, walk, and perform bedside care for extended periods.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited program; BSN preferred. Specialty certifications or additional training in critical care, telemetry, or emergency nursing are
