KSA's

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing or higher required. For positions that are identified as difficult to fill, CNO may allow approval for hiring of candidates with Associates degree in nursing with equivalent experience in lieu of BSN or above.
  • Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Illinois.
  • Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients/families, physicians and hospital staff.
  • Special certifications may be required by the department.

Essential Job Duties

  1. Performs nursing assessments utilizing a variety of assessment methods and/or area-specific tools.
  2. Develops or individualizes existing plans of care and establishes goals relative to family needs, evaluating and documenting changes to the plan.
  3. Develops or individualizes teaching plans/protocols to meet patient and family learning needs, identifies preferences and motivation to learn, and evaluates and documents changes.
  4. Performs nursing care according to procedures/protocols, anticipating emergent situations and intervening effectively.
  5. Communicates with the family and multidisciplinary team to identify health care needs, convey changes in patient status, and utilize appropriate resources for referral or consultation.
  6. Keeps up to date in nursing practice using current literature for information and problem solving.
  7. Incorporates hospital and departmental quality initiatives into daily activities.
  8. Adheres to communication, service excellence, and professional image standards supporting the hospital mission and philosophy.
  9. Works cooperatively as a team member to foster unit and hospital goal achievement.
  10. Identifies learning needs and seeks resources to advance nursing practice and achieve professional goals.
  11. Performs job functions adhering to service principles with a customer‑service focus of innovation, excellence, and teamwork to provide the highest quality care to patients, families, co‑workers, and others.
  12. Demonstrates competency with protocols related to chemical disinfection, high‑level disinfection, and sterilization as required by the responsibilities of the role.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree: Nursing (Required)

Visa Sponsorship

Lurie Children’s will consider visa sponsorship of qualified candidates for the registered nurse role, subject to all applicable laws and business and budgetary limitations.

Compensation

Pay Range: $37.00 – $61.05 hourly. In addition to base salary, Lurie Children’s offer a comprehensive rewards package including health and retirement benefits and wellbeing programs.
