Job Description

Day Shift 12 hours/day 3 days/week

RN – ER I | Christiana Hospital – Newark, DE

  • Facility: Christiana Hospital, Newark, Delaware
  • Department: Emergency Nursing / Emergency Department
  • Position: Registered Nurse – Emergency Room (RN-ER I)
  • Start Date: October 6
  • Shift: Days, 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM
  • Hours: 36 hours/week
  • Call: No call requirement
  • Holiday Requirement: Yes
  • RTO: Maximum 3 days at submission; all RTO must be provided with initial submission. RTO requests after submission will not be considered.
  • License: Active DE RN license or Compact RN license required in hand
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent ER/ED experience required – no exceptions
  • EMR: Cerner
  • Patient Population: Infant, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric
  • Department Size: Approximately 21–30 beds
  • Typical Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4
  • Department: Freestanding Emergency Department caring for a broad range of self-presenting emergencies, with limited EMS presentations
  • Float: No floating outside the Emergency Department; staff may provide additional support in CED or WED
  • Scrub Color: Blue/Navy
  • Common Procedures/Skills: Moderate sedation, stroke codes, cardiac/heart codes, trauma codes, cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, and external pacing
  • Auto Offer: Eligible candidates may receive an auto offer through the ER List A process
  • Overtime: Travel RNs are not authorized to work overtime , and OT will not be approved by ChristianaCare
  • Incidental OT: Travel RNs are not authorized to accumulate incidental overtime
  • Meal Breaks: Meal breaks are required and must be taken as scheduled; unused meal-break time cannot be accumulated or claimed
  • Shift Handoff: RNs involved in a code, RRT, or significant event near shift change should coordinate with the charge/oncoming nurse and provide timely handoff to ensure a smooth transition
  • Support: Charge RN, Assistant Nurse Manager, and Nurse Manager are available to assist with workflow, emergencies, and shift transitions
  • OT Exception: Limited exceptions may apply to procedural areas with on-call/scheduled procedures where staffing is required to maintain procedural schedules or address emergent cases.
