Pediatric readiness certified and must be competent with pediatric patients.
Description:The unit is designed to handle a variety of emergency situations.The Emergency Room sees approximately 50 patients per day.Patient-nurse ratios are 4 patients to 1 nurse.All patients are roomed within 7 minutes of arrival.There is a separate triage area, and primary RNs handle triaging for patients.Patients in the Emergency Room are intermixed with ER holds, with nurses managing their own holds.The department has a total of 21 regular private rooms, 2 trauma bays, 1 resuscitation room, and 1 FNE room.There are 2 dedicated seclusion rooms for psychiatric patients.In-house security is available.Respiratory therapists handle ABGs and breathing treatments while nurses manage EKGs.Patients are monitored by the EMR.Portable X-ray services are available within the department.Transport for CT services is managed by a separate department.The primary nursing staff draws 90% of lab samples.Nursing staff are required to work every other weekend and on holidays.Nursing staff are not allowed to wear artificial nails.A successful completion of an open-book exam during orientation is mandatory to maintain employment.
