RN Emergency Room PRN Nights

Role Overview:

The Emergency Department RN provides comprehensive, high-quality nursing care to patients of all ages, prioritizing patient safety and clinical excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Conducts thorough patient assessments, triages using approved systems, develops and evaluates care plans, administers medications and treatments, and monitors patient responses. Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to facilitate timely evaluations, treatments, transfers, and discharges, ensuring efficient patient flow and accurate documentation. Provides patient and family education, emphasizing diagnoses, procedures, and follow-up care. Responds swiftly to emergency situations, including trauma, stroke, cardiac events, respiratory distress, and other urgent conditions. Supports safety initiatives, infection control, and performance improvement efforts, maintaining compliance with regulations. Acts as a patient advocate, demonstrating professional communication and teamwork. Participates in emergency preparedness and supports hospital emergency codes.

Qualifications & Skills:

Requires an Associate Degree in Nursing (Bachelor's preferred), current Texas RN licensure, and a minimum of three years ER experience. Certifications include BLS, ACLS, and PALS (within orientation). Knowledge of emergency nursing standards, critical thinking, clinical judgment, and effective communication are essential. Ability to manage multiple patients, respond to rapid changes, and maintain composure in high-stress situations.

Physical & Performance Expectations:

Frequent movement, patient handling, and quick response to emergencies are required. Demonstrates commitment to safety, quality, regulatory compliance, and hospital core values, providing compassionate care consistently.
