Registered Nurse PCCU – Medical ICU (Open Heart Surgery and Neurosurgery Pods)
Hourly Pay Range: $36.00 - $55.80 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
Location & Schedule
Location: Elmhurst, IL
Full‑Time: 36 hours per week
Hours: 7:00 am – 7:30 pm with every third weekend and rotating holiday track
Required Travel: May float to other adult inpatient units as needed.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute patient care plans to meet expected outcomes, revising interventions systematically.
- Conduct patient assessment and collect health data in collaboration with the patient, family and interdisciplinary team.
- Communicate care plans and patient data to patients, families, physicians and team members, ensuring appropriate documentation.
- Individualize patient and family teaching based on a comprehensive assessment of learning style, barriers, and cultural background.
- Solve problems and provide psycho‑social support.
- Assist technical staff with contrast injections, venipuncture, drug administration, oxygen therapy, and IV management.
- Participate in performance‑improvement activities and nursing research; apply evidence‑based practice.
- Conduct daily wound, ostomy and skin‑care rounds; monitor effectiveness of treatment plans.
- Assist in the transportation of acutely ill patients.
- Comply with HIPAA regulations and other institutional policies.
Required Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Nursing (or higher). Associate degree holders must complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing within five years of employment (effective September 1, 2021). RN Diploma holders are grandfathered if the position start date is prior to September 1, 2021.
- Active Illinois State Nursing License.
- ACLS certification.
- BLS certification (American Heart Association).
- Minimum 1 year of inpatient nursing experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing or higher.
- 1 year of ICU or emergency department experience.
- 1 year of radiology nursing experience.
- 1 year of wound/ostomy experience.
- Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWON) or Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN).
