Purpose of Job:

This position is responsible for providing professional nursing care to patients in a clinic setting. Responsible for facilitating patient/physician/provider communication and coordination of care.

This position is responsible for providing professional nursing care to patients in a clinic setting. Responsible for facilitating patient/physician/provider communication and coordination of care.

Job Functions:

  • Escorts patients to examination room and obtains vitals and patient histories; documents in EMR.
  • Performs telephone assessment of patient condition and determines appropriate treatment for patient under the supervision of the provider.
  • Administers prescribed medications/vaccines and treatments in accordance with clinic policies.
  • Prepares equipment and assists providers during examination, testing and treatment of patients.
  • Assists in maintaining stocked supplies and sterilizes instruments/exam room.
  • Performs room turn over in patient rooms between cases and at end of day.
  • Assists in arranging referrals/prior authorizations as necessary.
  • Provides patient education.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education/Work Experience:

  • Graduate from a School of Nursing

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functions
  • Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above
  • Skills in assessment of patient condition and taking vital signs
  • Skills in preparing and maintaining records and reports
  • Ability to effectively handle high-stress fast paced environment
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse patient populations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

License/Certifications:

  • Current professional nurse licensure in Minnesota or if licensed in another state, a permit from the Minnesota Board of Nursing while the license application is in process
  • Current Healthcare Provider CPR certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 year of experience in a clinical setting
