Responsibilities and Essential Functions
- Performs the Nursing Process (assessment; diagnosis; identification of outcomes; planning; implementation and evaluation) in the performance of clinical care using evidence base practice, ensuring care is individualized; coordinating care through effective partnerships; recognizing that caring is central to achieving optimal patient care outcomes.
- Provides relationship-based patient centered care that is consistent with population-specific characteristics and adapts service delivery to reflect cultural diversity.
- Partners with the patient and significant others using appropriate methods (huddles; interdisciplinary rounds; just in time and planned patient teaching; keeping the patient and significant others updated and making the patient’s goals the focus of the plan of care).
- Practices using current clinical practice standards.
- Coordinates the delivery and documentation of safe quality patient care in a diverse and inclusive interdisciplinary environment; promotes fiscally responsible teamwork and staff recruitment/retention.
- Completes initial and ongoing professional competency assessment and required education; serves as a preceptor/mentor to ensure a qualified workforce; models professional nursing practice and a healthy work environment.
- Promotes evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement; participates in value analysis and adheres to system policies, procedures, and standards including regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Develops protocols and procedures in collaboration with Practice Managers and Clinical Services to achieve best practice outcomes; supports efficient use of human and material resources.
- Leads staff development, credentialing oversight, and annual competency checkoffs for non-provider clinical staff; attends Clinical Champion meetings and communicates best practices to practice staff.
- Maintains appropriate staffing and supply par levels to meet practice goals; acts as liaison with Clinical Informatics for EHR training needs; supports quality and safety initiatives and survey readiness.
- Ensures compliance with WellStar policies and procedures; participates in site assessments as needed; may serve as a practice Safety Coach.
Required Minimum Education
- Associates Nursing
- Bachelors Nursing - Preferred
Required Minimum Licenses and Certifications
- RN - Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN-COMPACT - Multi-state Compact
- BLS - Basic Life Support or BLS-Instructor
Additional Licenses and Certifications
- Current active license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Georgia Upon Hire
Required Minimum Experience
- Minimum 2 years experience as a Registered Nurse; supervisory or leadership experience preferred; physician practice setting experience considered; LPN/CMA experience with other qualifications may be considered
Required Minimum Skills
- Ability to implement national nursing standards; knowledge of healthcare procedures; strong interpersonal skills; attention to detail; effective time management; delegation and teamwork; English communication (verbal and written); basic computer skills; ability to adhere to WellStar Credo and Code of Conduct.
