Responsibilities

As a Charge Nurse at Community Health System, you oversee daily clinical operations and support your care team to ensure safe, high quality patient care. You serve as the main liaison for your assigned area, working with physicians, staff,patientsand families.You’llcoordinate patient flow, guidestaffassignmentsand take responsibility for patient safety,qualityand regulatory activities across the unit. Qualifications

• Education
• High School Diploma, High School Equivalency (HSE), or Completion of a CHS Approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Certificate required
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
• 2 years of experience as a staff RN in the area of assignment or demonstrated competency by achieving a minimum of 35 points on the RN Competency Model Evaluation form required
• 6 months of experience as a Relief Charge RN or in a team leadership role required
• Licenses and Certifications
• RN - Current and valid Registered Nurse license to work within the state of California required
• BLS - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers by American Heart Association (AHA) required
• Certifications as required for the unit
• CHS HealthStream Courses
• ALS-OB - Advanced Life Support OB Program required within 6 months of hire or transfer into position for the following departments: Labor & Delivery, Antepartum, OB Triage. Clovis: Labor & Delivery, Antepartum Testing, OB Triage.
• BAC - Basic Arrhythmia Course required within 6 months of hire or transfer into position for the following departments: Centralized Flex Staffing, Centralized Float, Burn Center, Med Surg 2 Central, Med Surg 5 Central, Med Surg 7 West, Med Surg Oncology, Orthopedics 5 West, CPCU, CVS Progressive 8W, PACU-Recovery, FH PACU, Short Stay Surgery, FH Short Stay Surgery, Nurse Float-PR Only. Clovis: Med-Surg Acute Care, Med-Surg Acute Care 5/5N, Med-Surg/CPCU, Surgical CPCU, PACU-Recovery, Short Stay Surgery, Nurse Float-PR Only.
• NIHSS - National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale Exam required within 6 months of hire or transfer into position for the following positions: For the following departments: Centralized Flex Staffing, Centralized Float, ICU 4th Floor, ICU 5th Floor, Neuroscience ICU, Neuroscience ICU-4 North, Neuroscience 9W, ICU Stepdown, Emergency, Nurse Float-PR Only. Clovis: ICU, Emergency, Nurse Float-PR Only.

• Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required upon hire or transfer into position for the following departments: CVU, FH CVU, FH CPCU, FH ES Cardiac Treatment Ctr, Cardiac Surgery, Cath Lab, FH Cath Lab, Cardiology, Cardiac Pulmonary Rehab, Interventional Pre Proc PICA, FH Nursing Admin. Clovis: ICU 2 North, Cath Lab, Post Interventional Cardiac Area PICA, Interventional Radiology.
• Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 6 months of hire or transfer into position for the following departments: Centralized Flex Staffing, Centralized Float, Neuroscience ICU, Neuroscience ICU-4 North, ICU Stepdown, Labor & Delivery, Antepartum, OB Triage, Nurse Float-PR Only. Clovis: ICU Stepdown, Surgical CPCU, Labor & Delivery, Antepartum Testing, OB Triage, Nurse Float-PR Only.

• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required within 6 months of hire or transfer into position for the following departments: Centralized Flex Staffing, Centralized Float, Nurse Float-PR Only. Clovis: Nurse Float-PR Only.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required within 1 year of hire or transfer into position for the following departments: Pediatric ICU, Burn Center, Pediatrics, Emergency, Burn Therapy, PACU-Recovery, Short Stay Surgery, Radiography Therapeutic, Endoscopy (except for nurses in pre-admission testing). Clovis: Emergency, PACU-Recovery, Short Stay Surgery.
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) Course required within 6 months of date of hire or transfer into position for the following departments (exceptions may apply, refer to Policy #10925): Labor & Delivery, Antepartum, OB Triage. Clovis: Labor & Delivery, Antepartum Testing, OB Triage.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required within 6 months of hire or transfer into position for the following departments: Pediatric ICU, NICU, Pediatrics, Obstetrics, Newborn Nursery, Labor & Delivery, Antepartum, OB Triage. Clovis: Neonatal ICU, Obstetrics, Labor & Delivery, Antepartum Testing, OB Triage.
• Oncology Nursing Society Chemotherapy/Biotherapy (ONSCHEMO) certification required within 6 months of hire or transfer into position for the following departments: Med Surg Oncology, Ambulatory Infusion Ctr-EMP, Ambulatory Infusion Ctr-Clovis. Clovis: CCI - Infusion Services.
• Certified Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) by the National Certification Corporation (NCC) required within 1 year of hire or transfer into position for the following departments (exceptions may apply, refer to Policy #10925): Labor & Delivery, Antepartum, OB Triage. Clovis: Labor & Delivery, Antepartum Testing, OB Triage.
