Job Summary

The Registered Nurse is a professional practitioner who assesses, manages, directs, and provides nursing care activities during the patient’s hospital stay and coordinates planning with other disciplines using a patient/customer‑driven approach.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements

  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessment and reassessment (admission, transfer, post‑op), document findings accurately, and maintain patient education and discharge plans.
  • Establish, coordinate, and evaluate a plan of care based on assessment data, diagnoses, labs, orders, protocols, and other relevant information, identifying short‑ and long‑term goals and incorporating evidence‑based practice.
  • Provide and document nursing interventions, collaborate with the health‑team, communicate patient care accurately (including handoff reports), administer medications, manage IV fluids and nutrition, and complete referrals and consults as needed.
  • Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition, involve family/guardian in care and decision‑making when appropriate, and maintain infection‑control practices.
  • Document ongoing evaluation of care effectiveness, modify the plan of care, and report significant changes to appropriate professionals.
  • Provide specialized care to high‑risk patients, including restraint care, pain management, and abuse assessment.
  • Demonstrate accountability for professional practice, adhere to quality standards, participate in learning activities, maintain current knowledge of policies, and adapt to changing work demands.
  • Relate professionally to coworkers, orient and precept new employees, collaborate in a team approach, supervise and teach students or new staff nurses, and communicate the plan of care clearly.
  • Follow safety and infection‑control policies, practice standard precautions, maintain a safe environment, dress appropriately, and report risk‑management concerns.
  • Ensure all annual mandatory requirements are completed: license and certifications, BLS, HI, TB screening, influenza vaccination, ethics training, safety training, information‑security course, abuse & neglect course, blood‑borne‑pathogens training, and any specific competency training.
  • Provide service excellence to patients and families through courteous, respectful care, effective communication, and timely, high‑quality service.

Job Specifications

  • Minimum Education: Licensed RN in the state of Missouri.
  • Working Conditions: Exposure to blood‑borne diseases; unpleasant environments; emergency and crisis situations; irregular hours.
  • Physical Requirements: Occasional prolonged standing/walking; lifting, positioning, pushing, or transferring patients; occasional reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.

Licensing Requirements

  • State of Work Location: Illinois – Basic Life Support (BLS HCP) and Registered Professional Nurse (RN – IDFPR).
  • State of Work Location: Missouri – Basic Life Support (BLS HCP) and Registered Nurse (RN – Missouri Division of Professional Registration) or RN issued by Compact State.
  • State of Work Location: Oklahoma – Basic Life Support (BLS HCP) and Registered Nurse (RN) issued by Compact State or OBN.
  • State of Work Location: Wisconsin – Basic Life Support (BLS HCP) and Registered Nurse (RN) issued by Compact State or Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services.
