Location: US:WI:MILWAUKEE at Froedtert Hospital facility. This job is on-site. FTE: 0.001. Standard Hours: 0.01. Shift: Shift 1. Shift Details: OPT position.

Job Summary

The Staff RN – Ambulatory Services works collaboratively as an active member of the interprofessional team to provide therapeutic patient and family‑centered care. The RN systematically and continuously collects and assesses data related to patient health status to develop, execute and evaluate the plan of care. The RN utilizes evidence to drive clinical decisions and practice related to individual and population health. The RN establishes goals and strategies for meeting care coordination needs across settings with the patient, family, and other care providers. The RN considers factors related to safety, effectiveness and fiscal accountability in planning and delivering care. The RN delegates and supervises care in accordance with the Wisconsin Nurse Practice. The RN participates in continuous quality improvement initiatives and assumes responsibility for professional development. Major responsibilities of this role include:

  • Perform/direct ACLS
  • Independent rhythm interpretation and defibrillation
  • Administration of advanced lifesaving medications
  • Independent, templated (RN‑only) visits for patient assessment, with action taken based on established protocols and/or clinical practice standards using clinical judgement to determine intervention timing/specifics
  • Specialty patient education where certification/additional certificate is required for role (sedation, telemetry monitoring & interpretation, management of rhythm changes)
  • Assisting with complex procedures – RN involvement in care / treatment / procedure
  • Advanced wound therapy (VACs, debridement, etc.), central line management (TPA administration) and maintenance (dressing, cap changes, access flushing)
  • Device interrogation and interpretation with resultant action; complex infusions (concurrent infusions, hazardous medication, blood products, etc.)
The work may also include patient care coordination, direct patient care, patient education, telephone triage/eVisits, and performing/assisting with minor procedures. The RN may float to other areas as needed for operations.

Experience

Clinical experience and/or interest in the care and management of patient populations specific to the area of employment is required. At least one year of relevant nursing experience is preferred.

Education

Nursing licensure is required. A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is preferred.

Training

Oncology: RNs must have or attain an oncology nursing certification or complete 10 hours oncology‑focused CE education per year on an ongoing basis.

Licensure

Requires current state of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or Multi‑state Nursing License from a participating state in the NLC. AHA Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA‑approved equivalent is required within 90 days of hire.
