The Rigging 1 role independently performs routine rigging for known loads using approved lift instructions and standard configurations. The role inspects and selects gear, verifies capacity, builds routine hitches, signals crane operators when designated, and controls loads through placement. Nonroutine conditions are stopped and escalated before the approved method is changed.
Responsibilities
Review routine lift instructions for load weight, center of gravity, pick and set points, travel route, rigging configuration, and assigned team roles.
Establish routine exclusion zones and verify crew positions, escape paths, signal method, travel-path clearance, and landing-area readiness.
Perform pre-use inspections of slings, shackles, hooks, eyebolts, chain hoists, and below-the-hook devices; remove defective gear from service.
Select routine rigging that matches the known load, hitch, connection point, environment, required reach, and rated capacity.
