Retread TechnicianS&S Tire is looking for a Retread Technician for our Morehead Manufacturing Plant. You will perform retreading functions for light and medium truck, bus and specialty tires. This position functions in a manufacturing environment at a Bandag retread tire facility where commercial truck tires are retreaded through a series of manual and automated processes.
This position operates in an indoor environment however, exposure to heat is to be expected in the summer months. Excellent safety and attendance performance is expected.Responsibilities:Inspecting and buffing tires for retreadingVisually inspect tires to be retreaded to determine conditionFurther inspect casings utilizing electronic liner detection and X-Ray inspection equipmentRepair casings, if needed, utilizing proper procedures and correct size repair patchOperate buffing machine to remove existing treads from tires and measure tires to determine proper tread widthUtilize shearography inspection machine to further inspect buffed casingSkive, buff, and fill any injury in tire as requiredOperate cushion extruder to apply cushion to buffed casingOperate semi-automatic builder to apply proper size tread to casingSelect proper size envelope and curing rim apparatus and apply to casing and utilize envelope leak detection devise to ensure integrity of the curing envelopePlace tires in curing chamber and cure tires according to specificationsRemove tires from chamber after cure and remove curing rims and envelopesInspect tires to ensure quality of product and compliance with customer standardsTrim and paint finished product and apply labelInspect finished retread utilizing multiple step high pressure test machine to ensure integrity of casingReceive and unload supplies including tread rubber, cushion gum and repair materials, envelopes, curing rim, tire casings, rims etc.Assists in distribution center activities as assignedInflate inner tubes and immerse them in water to locate leaks.Works in wheel reconditioning area as assignedPerform routine inspection and maintenance on plant equipment following manufacturers instructionOperate plant computer equipment and scannersMaintain a safe facility and use safety first practices to remain accident-free.Perform weekly and monthly projects and assigned tasks.Other duties as necessary.Requirements:We Offer:Competitive wages starting at $16.00/hourAttendance bonus, & frequent overtimeHealth BenefitsPaid Time OffOpportunities for AdvancementPaid Holidays401(k) Retirement PlanningAn Equal Opportunity Employer Drug Free WorkplaceAbout S&S Tire: S&S Firestone, Inc, headquartered in Lexington, KY, has grown to one of the largest independent tire dealerships in the country.
