Retirement Plan Administrator (TPA) / Sr. Compliance Consultant
This position offers a base pay range of $80,000.00/yr to $110,000.00/yr. Pay will be determined based on skills and experience.
Location
REMOTE – work from home. Equipment provided.
Education
College Degree or equivalent experience.
Requirements
- Must have a minimum of 2-3 years of administration experience (8+ years for high end of salary)
- Must have hands‑on compliance testing background and have completed 3 full cycles of testing (10+ cycles for high end of salary)
- Must have prepared Form 5500 and related schedules
- Must have experience with Defined Contribution (plus DB or Cash Balance)
- Must have performed employer calculations for consideration of higher salary range
- Must have management/team lead/quality review experience for high salary consideration
- Must have experience with multiple record‑keeping platforms
Additional Notes
- Experience with 3(16) fiduciary responsibilities is a plus.
- Experience with SRT is a plus.
- Experience with MEPs, PEPs and ROBS is a plus.
- ASPPA and/or NIPA credentials are a plus.
Description
The ideal candidate has 3-8+ years of hands‑on plan administration experience, excellent client communication skills, and a commitment to continuing education.
Responsibilities and Primary Duties
- Serve as main point of contact and take ownership of assigned clients.
- Provide support to financial advisors and referral sources.
- Accurately interpret and apply plan document provisions.
- Ensure compliance with ERISA, DOL, and IRS requirements.
- Conduct annual compliance testing for assigned clients (402(g), 415(c), 410(b), ADP/ACP, Top Heavy, Plan Limits, etc.).
- Prepare and file Form 5500 and related schedules.
- Compute projected and actual employer plan contribution calculations with allocation methods.
- Handle trust accounting and financial reporting.
- Manage custodian downloads, uploads, and imports.
- Reconcile contributions.
- Facilitate vesting updates with custodian.
- Process plan payroll when required.
- Prepare custodian correction/update forms as needed.
- Support Senior Retirement Plan Consultants and assist in training new associates.
- Review associate work for assigned clients.
- Assist clients with locating missing participants and secure ERISA bonding.
- Determine and process Required Minimum Distributions (RMD).
- Coordinate and deliver annual required notices.
- Represent the company on client calls and in meetings as needed.
- Maintain working knowledge of custodian websites and processes.
- Support retirement plan implementation, conversion, de‑conversion, and termination processes.
- Collect and review annual census data and employer questionnaires.
- Import census data and perform data checks.
- Determine Highly Compensated Employee (HCE) and Key Employee status.
- Provide loan and distribution support.
