Since 1969, the organization has focused on offering a "hand up" to community members seeking a better life for themselves and their families through the power of work. Goodwill serves low-income, at-risk, and adjudicated youth; veterans; young adult ex-offenders; unemployed and underemployed adults; and low-income seniors, supporting around 500 jobs in Southern Arizona. The organization's mission is funded through the sale of donated items at its retail stores, creating opportunities that strengthen both families and the wider community. More information about programs and services is available at Description The Retail District Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Tucson, AZ, responsible for overseeing multiple retail locations to ensure operational excellence and mission alignment. This position manages store performance by setting sales goals, monitoring key metrics, and implementing strategies to drive revenue while maintaining high standards of customer service and donor experience. The Retail District Manager leads and mentors store management teams, supports staffing and training needs, and fosters a positive, inclusive work environment that promotes professional growth and collaboration. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting regular store visits, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and safety procedures, managing merchandising and inventory practices, and coordinating with senior leadership on budget, reporting, and community impact initiatives. The role also involves problem-solving operational challenges, supporting change management, and representing Goodwill's values in all internal and external interactions.
Qualifications
* Experience in multi-unit retail management or equivalent leadership role, preferably in a mission-driven or nonprofit environment.
* Candidates should possess strong Communication skills, including clear verbal and written communication and active listening with diverse teams and customers.
* Candidates should possess Customer Service and Customer Satisfaction skills, with the ability to create positive shopping and donation experiences and address concerns effectively.
* Candidates should possess Team Management skills, including experience supervising staff, coaching leaders, scheduling, and promoting an inclusive, collaborative culture.
* Candidates should possess Sales skills, with a track record of meeting or exceeding store or district sales targets and using data to drive performance.
* Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, including managing priorities across multiple locations and adapting to changing business needs.
* Working knowledge of basic budgeting, reporting, and retail operations (merchandising, inventory control, loss prevention, and safety practices).
* Proficiency with common office and retail software tools and point-of-sale systems.
* Ability to travel between stores within the Tucson, AZ area and work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays.
