Restructuring AssociateDirect Counsel is seeking a Restructuring Associate to join the New York office of a nationally recognized Am Law firm. This opportunity is ideal for an attorney with 2–4 years of restructuring and insolvency experience who is looking to work on sophisticated Chapter 11 proceedings, out-of-court restructurings, and cross-border matters alongside a highly regarded restructuring team.The ideal candidate will have experience representing debtors, creditors, committees, and other stakeholders in complex restructuring matters and will be eager to take on meaningful responsibility from day one.Bankruptcy & Restructuring MattersRepresent debtors, secured creditors, ad hoc and statutory committees, asset purchasers, and other stakeholders in restructuring mattersAssist with Chapter 11 proceedings and out-of-court restructuringsWork on domestic and cross-border insolvency mattersDraft and review bankruptcy pleadings, motions, financing documents, restructuring agreements, and transaction documentsAnalyze complex financial and legal issues affecting distressed companies and stakeholdersLitigation & Case StrategyConduct legal research and prepare strategic analysesDraft substantive briefs, memoranda, and court filingsAssist with depositions, witness preparation, and hearing preparationSupport trial preparation and litigation strategy where applicableParticipate in negotiations involving restructuring transactions and settlementsClient & Team CollaborationWork directly with clients, financial advisors, investment bankers, and other professionalsCollaborate with attorneys across multiple practice groupsManage multiple matters and deadlines in a fast-paced environmentAssume increasing responsibility for case management and client interactionQualificationsJ.D. from an accredited law schoolActive New York Bar membership in good standing2–4 years of restructuring, insolvency, or bankruptcy experienceExperience representing debtors, creditors, committees, or other stakeholders in Chapter 11 proceedings and restructuringsStrong legal research, writing, and analytical skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal abilitiesAbility to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectivelyStrong academic credentials and demonstrated professional achievementPreferred QualificationsExperience with cross-border restructuring mattersDeposition experienceTrial preparation experienceExperience working on complex financial restructurings and distressed transactionsCompensation & BenefitsSalary Range: $235,000 – $310,000Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverageLife and disability insuranceFlexible Spending Accounts (FSA)401(k) and profit-sharing plansPaid holidays and generous paid time offWellness and employee assistance programsProfessional development and mentorship opportunitiesWhy This OpportunityWork on sophisticated Chapter 11 proceedings, restructurings, and distressed transactionsGain meaningful responsibility and hands-on experience early in your careerCollaborate with a nationally recognized insolvency and restructuring teamExposure to cross-border matters and complex stakeholder representationsStrong culture of mentorship, training, and long-term professional developmentDirect Counsel is committed to connecting exceptional legal talent with premier law firms and fostering inclusive hiring practices.
