Respiratory Care Practitioner – Respiratory Therapy

Schedule: 5:00 PM - 5:30 AM; Night Shift; 3 x 12s. Rotating days of the week based on need.

Assignment Details: Guaranteed Hours: 36.00 Contract Weeks: 13

Requirements:

• Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license in the state of practice: Required
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor per policy: Required
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from an approved vendor per policy: Required in ICU and/or ED
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from an approved vendor per policy: Required
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification from an approved vendor per policy: Required
• At least two years recent experience in the field: Required

Responsibilities:

• Assess and document the appropriateness of prescribed therapy for patients receiving respiratory care services.
• Administer aerosol and oxygen therapy and maintain patient charts.
• Draw arterial blood gases per policy and physician order.
• Provide care to ventilator patients and assist in department record keeping.
• Train and supervise new employees on patient and equipment surveillance.
• Perform pulmonary function tests and provide additional patient care regarding cardiorespiratory disease.
