nQualifications:
nGraduate from an accredited school of respiratory therapy
nCurrent BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification
nRegistered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Registered by the State of Minnesota (CRT)
nTwo years of critical care experience preferred
nJob Responsibilities:
nProvides care at the hospital to patients with respiratory care needs including those receiving advanced therapeutic care, which include, but are not limited to the following:
nVentilator
nBipap/Cpap
nIncentive spirometry
nAerosol/MDI treatments
nNT suctioning
nHigh velocity nasal canula
nNasal canula
nET suctioning
nCPT/PEP therapy
nBiWaze
nMonitors patient's physiological response to therapy such as vital signs, arterial, and venous blood gases. Consults with clinician if adverse reactions occur.
nWorks as a team in a multidisciplinary environment to provide care and provide recommendations for appropriate therapy.
nAssists with monitoring end tidal CO2 and SPO2 of patients.
nEducates patients and families on respiratory disease management.
nWorks with patients and families to set up home oxygen therapy.
nActively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.
nResponds to rapid response and codes called within the hospital with appropriate equipment.
nMonitors respiratory supplies and equipment as needed.
nReviews EHR for accurate charging of respiratory related supplies, equipment, and oxygen use.
nMakes rounds within the hospital departments to assess patient respiratory care needs and communicates with charge nurses and house supervisors as needed.
nAssesses respiratory equipment and supplies .
nAssists in the development, implementation, and review of respiratory policies, procedures, and protocols.
nMonitors EHR for accurate charging of respiratory related supplies, equipment, and oxygen use.
nOther duties as assigned.
nOn Call Responsibilities
nYour response time will be less than one hour, sooner if possible.
nThere is a two-hour minimum paid time for being called in.
nProvide coverage for three shifts per month.
nProvide at least one weekend shift every month.
nProvide coverage for one holiday shift per year.
