Responsibilities

    n
  • n

    Evaluate patients' respiratory conditions by conducting physical examinations and reviewing medical histories. 

    n
  • n
  • n

    Administer   respiratory therapies including   medical gas   delivery , nebulization , chest physiotherapy , airway management , and mechanical ventilation ( invasive and non-invasive ) for pediatric , adolescent , adult , and neonatal patients .

    Perform diagnostic testing such as arterial blood gas (ABG) collection  and analysis ,  pulmonary function testing ,  and  pulse oximetry

  • n
  • n

    Monitor patient physiological responses to treatments and adjust care or escalate concerns as appropriate .

  • n
  • n

    Manage artificial airways and troubleshoot respiratory equipment to ensure patient safety and therapy effectiveness .

  • n

    Active member of the medical emergency   response teams . 

    n
  • n
  • n

    Maintain accurate , timely , and thorough documentation in the   patient   electronic medical record (EMR.).

    Communicate   and collaborate   effectively with interdisciplinary teams regarding patient status and therapy plans .

    Provide assistance   with internal patient   transports .

  • n
  • n

    Provide patient and family education on respiratory pathophysiology   and   pharmacologic therapies .

  • n

    Set up, maintain , and troubleshoot respiratory   therapy   equipment .

  • n
  • n

    Perform routine cleaning and disinfection of respiratory therapy equipment . 

    n
  • n
  • n

    Serve as a preceptor and mentor for respiratory therapy students and new staff .  

    n
  • n
  • n

    Participate in departmental and multidisciplinary committees focused on quality improvement, patient safety, and clinical  outcomes .

Qualifications

n

Education:

n
    n
  • n

    Associate's or  Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy  from an accredited program required .

    n
  • n
  • n

    Graduate of a CoARC approved Respiratory Care program   required .

  • n
n

License(s)/Certification(s):

    Must have current licensure in good standing to practice as a  Respiratory  Care Practitioner in State(s) of Practice required .

    Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) required .
