nPosition Summary
nWe are seeking a skilled and compassionate Respiratory Therapist to provide respiratory care and life-support services to patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies and abnormalities.
nUnder general supervision, the Respiratory Therapist provides acute and critical respiratory care, operates and manages respiratory equipment, administers prescribed respiratory medications, and works collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
nThe Respiratory Therapist will also serve as a resource to the Respiratory Therapy Department and may assist with training and cross-training activities.
nKey Responsibilities
nProvide respiratory care and life-support services to patients with cardiopulmonary conditions.
nOperate and manage mechanical ventilators and BiPAP/CPAP equipment.
nPerform arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling and analysis.
nAdminister respiratory medications through nebulizers and metered-dose inhalers as prescribed.
nProvide respiratory treatments in acute and critical-care settings.
nMonitor patients and respond appropriately to changes in respiratory or cardiopulmonary status.
nCollaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement appropriate respiratory care plans.
nCross-train in Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) procedures.
nProvide education and support to patients and families regarding respiratory conditions and treatments.
nMaintain accurate documentation of respiratory assessments, treatments, and patient responses.
nServe as a clinical resource for the Respiratory Therapy Department.
nAssist with training and development of staff as appropriate.
nFollow established clinical, safety, infection-control, and regulatory standards.
nMaintain respiratory equipment and report equipment concerns as necessary.
nPerform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
nRequired Qualifications
nAssociate degree or higher in Respiratory Therapy or a related field.
nCurrent Respiratory Therapist license in good standing.
nCurrent BLS certification (AHA).
nCurrent ACLS certification.
nStrong clinical knowledge of respiratory care procedures and cardiopulmonary conditions.
nAbility to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
nStrong communication, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
nAbility to work in acute and critical-care environments.
nPreferred Qualifications
nNRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification is highly preferred.
nExperience with mechanical ventilation and BiPAP/CPAP.
nExperience performing arterial blood gas sampling and analysis.
nExperience with pulmonary function testing.
nPrevious acute-care or critical-care respiratory therapy experience.
nSchedule
nThis is a part-time, benefit-eligible position requiring approximately 24 hours per week.
nOn-call and weekend requirements will be determined based on departmental needs.
nCompensation
nStarting Pay: $40.00 per hour
nActual compensation will be determined based on education, professional experience, qualifications, and applicable pay practices.
