nRespiratory Therapist II (RRT)
nFull Time (36 hours), 1st Shift
nUnit Description:The Baptist Health Respiratory Care department helps patients breathe better and live healthier. Our expert team provides personalized care and advanced treatments for many respiratory illnesses such as COPD and asthma. We offer comprehensive pulmonary function testing, advanced ventilator management, asthma and COPD education, 24/7 emergency respiratory care, and are members of the Neonatal Response Team. Our dedicated professionals deliver high-quality, compassionate care using state-of-the-art treatment plans.
nJobSummary:Responsible to perform daily Respiratory Care procedures as assigned, which include but are not limitedto medication administration via aerosol therapy, oxygen therapy, percussion and postural drainage, noninvasive ventilation, mechanical ventilation, CPR, bedside pulmonary function screening, and arterial bloodgases. Able to perform in all emergency situations and provide intubation, if applicable.
nKey Responsibilities:
nVentilation and Non-Invasive Ventilation Management
nManages and assesses patients on mechanical and non-invasive ventilation.
nEducates patient and family on issues pertinent to their care on the ventilator.
nFollows through on pertinent protocols.
nManages ventilators for neonatal/pediatrics and adults according to protocol pertinent for each age group.
nPatient care procedures and medication administration
nAssesses the appropriateness of therapy and makes recommendations.
nPerforms, assesses, and instructs the effective administration of oxygen, aerosol medications,
nhumidification, suctioning, and chest physiotherapy.
nTakes and records verbal orders for respiratory care procedures.
nArterial Blood Gases
nObtains, processes, and reports results without direct supervision.
nEssential Job Functions:
nAdheres to all departmental policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
nServes as a knowledgeable resource for nursing staff, physicians, students, and new respiratory staff.
nParticipates in quality improvement initiatives by evaluating performance and recommending enhancements.
nResponds promptly to all respiratory care requests and emergency pages.
nSupports staff development through education and training programs.
nMaintains compliance with safety standards and can identify job-specific hazards and patient safety responsibilities.
nProvides exceptional customer service by addressing needs promptly, managing difficult situations professionally, and seeking feedback to enhance service delivery.
nDemonstrates reliability in fulfilling responsibilities and meeting commitments.
nRequirements:
nMust be a Registered Respiratory Therapist through the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC)
nAssociate's degree
nMust be licensed by the Kentucky Board of Respiratory Care as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the state of Kentucky and in accordance with the provisions of KRS chapter 314A
nMust maintain an active BLS. (within 30 days of hire if not already active)
nMust obtain PALs and NRP within 6 months
