The core Success Factors include:nnInstill Trust and Value DifferencesnPatient and Community Focus and CollaboratennRESPONSIBILITIES:nnEvaluates, assesses and performs prescribed clinical procedures and therapy by order of a licensed medical provider in compliance with department policies and procedures.nAnalyzes and evaluates clinical patient data to determine the appropriate therapy or intervention and offers recommendations on patient care to the medical staff.nResponsible to evaluate, assess, and maintain equipment used in the delivery of Respiratory Care therapeutic modalities.nProvides clinical instruction and in service education for students, new employees, other health care professionals, patients, and family members as assigned.nProvides safe and effective service to the Code Response Team, Rapid Response/Fast Team.nUnderstands and implements hospital policies regarding infection control and bio-hazard waste procedures.nRecords all pertinent data and treatment information, at the time of treatment, on the approved flow sheets or EMR. Will safeguard the privacy and confidentiality of all patient medical information.nAssumes lead responsibilities as delegated.nnMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:nnBASIC KNOWLEDGE:nDemonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.nAssociates Degree in an AMA-approved respiratory therapy program. Must be licensed by the State of Rhode Island as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.nRegistered as a respiratory therapist through the National Board of Respiratory Care.nnRequired Respiratory Care Practitioner License from the State of Rhode IslandnRequired Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart AssociationnnInterpersonal skills – to instruct and calm patients. Analytic skills – to interpret blood gas reports, calculate results of pulmonary function tests and synthesize interrelated data from various medical disciplines. Leadership ability – to establish priorities, assign work to practitioners when assigned charge responsibilities, and instruct students.nAbility to operate all respiratory therapy and diagnostic testing equipment.nEXPERIENCE:nOne year of experience as a respiratory care practitioner preferred.nWORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:nProlonged standing and walking. Exposed to all patient elements. May be required to lift/turn patients and equipment. Repeated bending, squatting, stooping. Sufficient visual acuity and manual dexterity to use computer keyboard and other common office equipment. Any hazards are minimized by adherence to established safety procedures and precautions.nSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:nNone
