Residential Specialist

Location: Baltimore, MD

Compensation: $ Hourly

Employment Type: Full-Time | Shifts: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM, Monday‑Friday

Residential specialists provide steady support for clients in residential treatment. They guide clients through assessment, counseling, and care planning with compassion and clinical expertise.

Since 1992, we’ve been at the forefront of behavioral health crisis care, providing timely, community‑based services for individuals and families experiencing mental health and substance use challenges.

The Opportunity

BCRI is seeking a Residential Specialist to support individuals in a residential treatment setting. In this role, you’ll help maintain a safe, recovery‑focused environment, encourage participation in therapeutic activities, and monitor progress toward treatment goals. This is a hands‑on opportunity to make a meaningful impact while supporting Baltimore’s mission of advancing behavioral health and crisis recovery.

What You’ll Do

  • Support the delivery of care and engagement of individuals by participating in group supervision, reviewing evaluations, assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes to understand unique needs, strengths, preferences, and goals.
  • Monitor and document the health and safety of individuals in care at scheduled intervals across residential environments.
  • Model pro‑social interactions and encourage participation in therapeutic activities in individual and group settings.
  • Follow universal precautions and health protocols, maintaining cleanliness through sanitation activities.
  • Use company vehicles for transportation of individuals entering, receiving, or being discharged from care as required.
  • Prepare and serve meals and food items, following health protocols and medical orders for specialty diets.
  • Monitor and assist with activities of daily living.
  • Serve as liaison to internal and external stakeholders, care partners, and visitors as assigned.
  • Adhere to company policies, expectations, and behavioral competencies.
  • Perform additional tasks and projects assigned by Human Resources or supervisory staff.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED (required)
  • Associate degree in Human Services or related field (preferred)

Additional Requirements

  • Valid and unrestricted driver’s license (required)

Physical Demands

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk or computer workstation.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and reaching.
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Proactive pursuit of guidance to support safety and quality care.
  • Maintaining calm and self‑reflection under distress.
  • Practicing positive interpersonal relations and situational awareness.
