Resident Engineer

As a Resident Engineer, you will take ownership of projects from start to finish.
Core Responsibilities for the Role
- Interpret and understand design and specifications of aspects related to highways, freeways, interchanges, streets, intersections, and multiuse trails
- Oversee and lead roadway construction projects and perform various tasks associated with construction management including working with contractors to identify design issues, field design changes, verify measurements of quantities and pay applications, RFI's, project schedule, review and accept submittals for material certifications. Also includes working closely with field inspectors to ensure successful project delivery.
- Work with project managers on client relations, stakeholder coordination, and sub-consultant management
- Take ownership of projects from start to finish, with attention to quality, budget, and schedule
- Interface with coworkers to achieve shared success
- Availability to work onsite days, nights and weekends while projects are ongoing
- Obtain certifications related to construction engineering management
- Monitoring construction contracts
- Managing personnel and budget
Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
- Licensed EIT required; Nevada PE License preferred
- MSHA training is required; Horrocks will train candidates that meet qualifications
- Experience working on multidisciplinary project teams
- Solid background in AASHTO roadway geometric design criteria
- Proficiency using Autodesk and/or Bentley civil design software preferred
- Drainage design and/or traffic engineering experience is preferred
- Solid written and oral communication skills
- Self-motivated, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency with MS Office applications
- A desire to grow personally and professionally with each project assignment
