Amador Water Agency, California Resident EngineerBuild Infrastructure That Matters The Amador Water Agency is seeking a skilled and driven Resident Engineer to lead critical water and wastewater infrastructure projects that directly impact the community. This is a hands-on leadership role where engineering expertise meets field execution—ideal for someone who thrives managing projects, solving complex challenges, and guiding teams from concept through construction.What You'll DoLead and oversee the construction and maintenance of raw water, water distribution, and wastewater systemsManage multiple capital and developer-driven projects from design through completionReview engineering plans, specifications, and technical reportsCoordinate with contractors, developers, regulatory agencies, and internal teamsResolve construction issues, negotiate change orders, and support contract administrationSupervise and mentor field staff and ensure safe, efficient operationsSupport budgeting and long-term planning for engineering projectsIdeal CandidateStrong background in civil engineering, construction management, or public worksExperience managing water/wastewater infrastructure projectsAbility to balance technical expertise with leadership and field coordinationSkilled in project management, problem-solving, and stakeholder communicationProficiency with AutoCAD and standard engineering softwareMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred)Five (5) years of experience in civil engineering or public works constructionExperience with water distribution, wastewater collection, or treatment systemsProfessional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not requiredSupplemental InformationWhy Join Amador Water Agency?Work on impactful infrastructure projects that serve the communityBe part of a collaborative, mission-driven teamEnjoy a mix of field and office work—no two days are the sameOpportunity to lead projects and shape system improvementsWork EnvironmentThis role combines office and field work, including active construction sites with exposure to weather, equipment, and varying terrain. When not in the field, the Resident Engineer will be expected to work from the AWA headquarters at 12800 Ridge Road, Sutter Creek, CA 95685.ScheduleMonday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (Some overtime or schedule flexibility may be required) AWA offers a 9/80 schedule; no hybrid or remote work will be available at this time.
