Remote Contract General

Resident EngineerAs a Resident Engineer you will be a key member of the Bryant Construction Management Team in our Boston, MA office, where you will inspect job sites for a wide range of public and private sector clients, to enable their successful completion. Work will be done in support of our multi-disciplinary Survey, Engineering (Site/Civil, Structural and Traffic) and Construction Management firm. Projects are located throughout the State of Massachusetts and mostly consist of water and sewer pipeline and treatment plants but may also include traffic and roadway projects.The Resident Engineer will perform on-site inspection of water/storm water, and/or roadway/civil-site work jobs.

Work is carried out with considerable independence and requires thorough knowledge of appropriate construction practices and codes.Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned)Manages, monitors activities of assigned staff to determine that the contractors' activities conform to design specifications and contractual requirements.Oversees the measurement and payment of contractor's quantities of work performedDocuments observations, non-compliance and corrective/preventative actionsCoordinates work efforts of inspection staff, testing firm and laboratoriesCollects analyzes and organizes data to brief client on project issues. Makes suggestions for resolutionsDrafts and reviews responses to contractor's correspondence as requiredProvides guidance to inspection staffActs as on-site liaison between client, company personnel and contractor to resolve project issuesCoordinates work with the contractorObserves all phases of construction activities for compliance with design documents and client standardsDocuments work as performedReviews contractor requisitions for paymentPrepares daily reports and attends progress meetingsManages quality and safety of projects and ensures schedules are metRequired Skills & Abilities:Excellent written and oral communication skillsDemonstrated ability to resolve technical issues effectively and efficientlyDetail orientedProblem solverStrong interpersonal and negotiation skills. Able to build and maintain strong relationships with contractor and the general publicSolid project management and organizational skillsMust be flexible and able to work in a fast paced environmentDesire to work in a team environmentObserves company and client safety requirementsMust have a valid driver's license and ability to pass a driving record checkAbility to pass a drug testEducation and/or Experience:10+ years of related experienceAssociates or BS in Construction Management or Civil Engineering a plusComputer Skills:Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)Proficient in SharePoint, ProjectWise, CM14 or other construction management softwareSupervisory Responsibilities:N/ATravel:Local travel to job sites and client meetings as requiredPhysical Requirements:The physical demands described represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions for this job.
