nOur Construction Management team is seeking a Resident Engineer for various rail and transit infrastructure projects. The Resident Engineer will manage the daily observation of the Contractor's operations.
nResponsibilities:
nOversee the construction management and inspection of rail projects
nReview shop drawings and specifications to ensure proper installation of contract items
nPreparing inspection reports and oversight of field testing and commissioning
nReview change orders and issue recommendations and respond to RFI's
nMaintain quantity logs and review payment requests from contractors
nAttend meetings and prepare minutes
nReview and maintain staffing reports, payroll certifications, and other labor documentation from the contractors
nReview the Contractor's work plans
nEnsure the Contractor complies with the Contractors Safety and Health Plan
nPrepare a punch list with the owner upon completion of the project
nQualifications:
nBS degree in engineering or a related field
n10+ years of experience as a Resident Engineer and managing construction field teams
nExperience with Amtrak, MTA, Metro-North Railroad, NJ Transit, or Long Island Railroad construction projects and project management guidelines (PMG's) is a plus
nOSHA 30-hour safety certification
nCandidate must have reliable transportation
nA licensed professional engineer is preferred
nRequirements
nMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
nMaintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
nPossess a personal vehicle for use on or around a job site
nRead, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
nBasic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
nAble to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 19" or less (mud, gravel, rutted ground, etc.)
nAble to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
nAble to move equipment or inspection specimens weighing up to 50 pounds
