Position Summary of the Resident Engineer:
The Resident Engineer will serve as the primary technical liaison between our customer and their customers, as well as our customers internal engineering teams. This role is responsible for supporting the successful launch and ongoing production for automotive components and systems by identifying and resolving technical issues, coordinating engineering activities, and ensuring customer requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities of the Resident Engineer:
- Serve as the primary engineering contact and technical representative at the customer facility
- Support new product launches, engineering changes, and production activities
- Investigate and resolve customer technical issues related to product design, quality, fit, function, and manufacturing
- Coordinate with design, manufacturing, quality, tooling, and program management teams to develop effective solutions
- Review customer requirements, specifications, drawings, and engineering changes
- Participate in customer meetings, design reviews, problem-solving activities, and production trials
- Support root-cause analysis and corrective action activities using structured problem-solving methodologies
- Track engineering issues and communicate status, timelines, and resolutions to both the customer and internal teams
- Coordinate prototype, validation, testing, and production support activities as required
- Assist with APQP, PPAP, FMEA, change management, and other automotive engineering processes
- Maintain accurate technical documentation and communicate engineering changes to appropriate stakeholders
- Travel to customer and manufacturing locations as needed
- Ensure engineering activities are completed in accordance with customer requirements, company procedures, and automotive industry standards
Qualifications of the Resident Engineer:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related technical field preferred
- The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial automation and basic electronics
- Experience with CANoe, vFlash, MS Project, and Excel required
- 3+ years of automotive engineering or manufacturing experience
- Experience working directly with automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of automotive product development and manufacturing processes
- Experience with engineering drawings, GD&T, root-cause analysis, and problem-solving methodologies
- Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and change management processes
- Strong communication and customer-service skills
- Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with cross-functional engineering teams
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
