Highly Competitive Salary, Bonus, and Benefits Package
J MAR's client, a privately held oil and gas exploration and production company with an active acquisition and development program, is seeking an A&D Reservoir Engineer to help evaluate acquisition, divestiture, and trade opportunities across the Lower 48. Working inside a multi-disciplinary deal team, the engineer applies reservoir engineering, production analysis, and economic evaluation to gauge asset quality, quantify value, and shape the investment recommendations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Deal Evaluation & Opportunity Screening
- Work alongside the A&D (acquisitions and divestitures) team to turn evaluations of acquisition, divestiture, and trade opportunities around on deal timelines, covering both proprietary and third‑party deal flow.
- Track competitor data, offset operator development strategies, and broader industry trends to surface opportunities worth pursuing.
Reserves, Type Curves & Well Performance
- Establish individual well EURs (estimated ultimate recoveries), well spacing, and development patterns. Select the relevant well analogs and build the type curves behind acquisition and development recommendations measured against corporate return metrics.
- Read well results against the specific geologic target, reservoir fluid, completion design, flowback behavior, and artificial lift method in play.
- Team with geologic and operations staff to supply reservoir engineering input on development projects and drilling opportunities.
Economics & Cross-Functional Support
- Scrutinize LOS/LOE (lease operating statement/lease operating expense), OpEx, price differentials, CapEx, and the remaining economic assumptions underpinning acquisition and development scenarios.
- Serve as a technical and economic resource to A&D, land, finance, and other cross‑functional groups.
- Help assemble the material presented to the executive team.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering, or a related technical engineering discipline.
- Three or more years in a reservoir engineering role at an operating company.
- Experience with reserves and economics software such as ComboCurve, ARIES, or PHDWin is required.
- Working experience with Enverus (Prism) and IHS Energy data subscriptions.
- Clear written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate at every level of the organization.
