The Research Services Artificial Intelligence Librarian at Longwood University's Greenwood Library combines traditional academic librarianship with a focus on AI literacy and digital innovation. Reporting to the Dean of Greenwood Library, this role leads the development of AI literacy initiatives, supports faculty and student research, and collaborates across campus to inform university-wide AI policies. The librarian will teach information literacy workshops, provide research consultations, and stay current with emerging AI technologies to guide the institution's engagement with AI in higher education.
Key qualifications
- Master's degree in Library and Information Science (MLS/MLIS) from an ALA-accredited program
- Demonstrated experience with library research support and instruction
- Knowledge of AI tools (e.g., language models, citation generators, AI-based research tools)
- Demonstrated knowledge of the ethical, legal, and social implications of AI
- Excellent communication skills with ability to explain complex technological concepts to non-expert audiences
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a rapidly changing technological environment
