Salary Range : $40,326-$45,000 Commensurate witheducation, experience, and qualifications.

Job Summary

The Silveira lab is looking for a Research Science Associate II to contribute to our research in neuroscience. This full-time, grant-funded position involves conducting experiments, analyzing data, onboarding new trainees, and supporting lab management. The role also includes supervising student researchers and collaborating across teams.

Candidates should be prepared to work on campus.

This is a grant-funded position, which may be extended or shortened based upon availability of funds and/or work.

Core Responsibilities

  1. Contributes to the management of the laboratory, includingplacing orders and preparing solutions.
  2. Successfully and independently acquire electrophysiologydata.
  3. Successfully perform data analysis and interpretation ofresults.
  4. Manages and genotypes the mouse colony.
  5. Assists other team members in their projects.
  6. Trains new personnel in the laboratory.
  7. Keeps accurate records.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, Vocational Training, or Apprenticeship ina related field.
  • Three (3) years of related work experience.
    • Additional education may substitute for experience on a oneyear for one year basis.
  • This position may require the ability to maintain the securityand integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure per TexasEO-GA-48.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science or PhD in Neuroscience or a relatedfield.
  • Worked with animal models in a lab environment.

Working Conditions

  • Usual laboratory or office conditions. Sometimes requiresworking with hazardous equipment or materials.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to feel,reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. Repetitivemotions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.Reaching overhead, at or below shoulder level.

This position will work primarily on campus.Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
