Research Integrity Coordinator

Location: Austin, TX
Hours: 40 hours per week, FLSA status exempt, immediate start, expected to continue.

Purpose
Provides support to the Associate Vice President for Research and Research Integrity Officer.
Responsibilities
- Assist the RIO in carrying out research misconduct cases in accordance with federal and university policies.
- Coordinate with VPR portfolio staff to improve communication and transparency in research misconduct cases.
- Partner with VPR stakeholders, including the Provost's Office, Deans, ADRs, and others, to develop a principle‑based approach to research integrity and ethics.
- Develop and establish processes for research misconduct‑related policies and procedures, assess existing policies, and make recommendations for revisions or sunset.
- Coordinate with the RIO to select technical experts and investigative committee members, develop training materials, and provide administrative support throughout the process.
- Manage the RIO’s calendar, prepare agendas and meeting materials, attend meetings, and produce minutes as requested.
- Prepare correspondence, reports, and memoranda related to the RIO and research integrity processes.
- Collaborate with representatives of the Office of Legal Affairs, University Ombuds Offices, Risk and Compliance Services, the Provost's Office, and other entities to provide documentation, resources, and processes as needed.
- Perform other related functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field and at least three years of responsible level experience in program administration or program coordination.
- Ability to build strong and trusting relationships with faculty, scientists, postdocs, students, and administrators.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail, effective planning and organizational skills.
- Understanding of research ethics and integrity, with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 and other PC applications.
- Innovation, independent judgment, willingness to take initiative, and confidentiality.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in social sciences, social work, or related discipline.
- Experience in a confidential role such as graduate coordinator or advisor.
- Coursework, training, or prior position involving research ethics or ethical dilemmas.
- Previous work handling research misconduct cases or working in a research support office or unit at a university.
Salary
$55,000 + depending on qualifications.
