Research Engineering/Scientist Associate IVIncumbent will work on research related to ion channels in the lab of Dr. Amy Lee in the Department of Neuroscience at The University of Texas at Austin.Provide support in molecular biology and biochemistry for lab projects including designing and generating cDNA constructs and viral expression vectors; expression and purification of proteins from bacteria and mammalian cells; production and testing of antibodies directed against ion channels and synaptic proteins; transcriptomic analyses of gene expression.Perform experiments involving immunohistochemistry, electron and confocal microscopy in various tissue preparations.Participate in general lab management duties including onboarding personnel, compliance, oversight of animal colonies, manage IACUC and biosafety protocols, equipment purchases/maintenance.Train lab staff to participate in mouse colony maintenance, general lab maintenance, experiments involving cell culture, biochemistry, molecular biology.Engage intellectually in projects by attending lab meetings, seminars, conferences, and collaborating with lab staff in writing grants, manuscripts.PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, neuroscience or related fieldExperience in molecular biology and protein purificationExperience with rodent handling, confocal and/or electron microscopy, adenoassociated virus design, antibody purificationExperience in bioinformatic analysesAt least one first author publication$62,000May work around chemical fumesMay work around standard office conditionsMay work around biohazardsMay work around chemicalsRepetitive use of a keyboard at a workstationResume/CV3 work references with their contact information; at least one reference should be from a supervisorLetter of interest
