Saint-Gobain Research is seeking a Research Engineer I for our Mobility ENC business.The role in this job is to support the current research team in conducting hands-on laboratory experiments for key development programs. Phases of development include pilot, scale-up, and implementation of R&D processes into manufacturing.- Projects will focus on process and product development activities related to Bearings and Seals businesses. --

Tasks clearly defined by manager in nature and scope, including areas of product development/improvement, production processes, and new knowledge research including specific application testing, and characterization tools. Support new product development through internal testing and test systems development (equipment, tooling, methodology, SOP’s, etc) plus management of data files.

The incumbent is required to develop and present presentations for business reviews.- In addition, they will be required to submit technical reports on project progress and results.

Carries several business support projects or studies through successful completion with little assistance from supervisor. -Tasks clearly defined by manager in nature and scope, and guidance on project objectives and technical approach are provided but autonomous execution is expected.- Projects involve the extension of present or new technology in one or more areas, involving improvement and/or development of processes and testing techniques.--

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical engineering (preferred), Material Science, Chemical Engineering, or other related disciplines.

1 - 2 years of experience in mechanical testing of materials and/or materials characterization (tensile tests, compression tests, microscopy, etc.)

Basic knowledge about material science, polymer processing
n n - n
Must possess a body of technical work commensurate with their years of experience including but not limited to: demonstration of familiarity with statistical tools, data analysis, and drawing conclusions based on a collection of basic data and interpretation.--

Knowledge of mechanical engineering/mechanics to build test apparatus and systems, and basic polymer materials science including materials and processes.

Project leadership including project management, team collaboration, and good oral and written communication skills are required.

Proficient with MS office tools. AutoCAD skill is a plus. Fluent in English.

Must be able to travel domestically in the U.S. and internationally when needed (<15%)

However, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
nIn addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 9% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $79,025 to $121,535. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.
